Description
Maltofer Fol chewable tablets are a combination preparation containing iron and folic acid. They are used for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency with increased need for folic acid during pregnancy and lactation.
Maltofer Fol chewable tablets can be chewed or swallowed whole and should be taken during or directly after a meal.
For the prevention and treatment of iron deficiency and treatment of iron deficiency without anaemia (latent iron deficiency) as well as to meet an increased need for folic acid: 1 chewable tablet once daily.
For the treatment of iron deficiency with anaemia (manifest iron deficiency) as well as to meet an increased need for folic acid: 1 chewable tablet 2-3 times daily. Once the haemoglobin blood values have returned to normal, treatment with 1 chewable tablet daily will be continued until the end of the pregnancy in order to meet the increased need for iron and to replenish the iron stores.
The dose and duration of treatment depend on the extent of the iron deficiency. The exact duration of treatment is determined by the doctor in each case.
If taking Maltofer Fol is forgotten, just take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the forgotten dose.
Keep to the dosage stated or as prescribed by the doctor. If thinking that the effect of this medicine is too strong or too weak, talk to the doctor or pharmacist.
