Amoxicillin/Clavulanate
Indications/Uses
FC tab/oral suspΒ Treatment of common bacterial infections where oral therapy is indicated: URTI (including ENT), skin & soft tissue infections, lower resp tract infections, GUT infections, osteomyelitis, septicaemia, peritonitis, post-op infections.Β 1,200 mg vialΒ Treatment of severe infections of ear, nose & throat, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community acquired pneumonia, cystitis, pyelonephritis; skin & soft tissue, bone & joint, intra-abdominal, female genital infections. Prophylaxis in infections associated in major surgical procedures in adults.
Dosage/Direction for Use
FC tabΒ Adult & childn >12 yrΒ 1 g bd.Β Mild to moderate infectionsΒ 375 mg tds.Β More severe infections, resp tract infectionsΒ 625 mg tds.Β Oral suspΒ Childn 7-12 yrΒ 312.5 mg tds,Β 2-7 yrΒ 156.25 mg tds,Β 9 mth to 2 yrΒ 78.12 mg tds.Β 457 mg/5 mL oral suspΒ Childn 2 mth-12 yrΒ Mild to moderate infectionsΒ 25/3.6 mg/kg/day.Β More severe infectionsΒ 45/6.4 mg/kg/day.Β 1,200 mg vialΒ Treatment of infectionsΒ Adult & childn (wt >40 kg)Β 1,000 mg/200 mg slow IV inj every 8 hr.Β Surgical prophylaxisΒ For procedures <1 hr in duration: 1,000 mg/200 mg to 2,000 mg/200 mg given at induction of anaesth. For procedures >1 hr in duration: 1,000 mg/200 mg to 2,000 mg/200 mg given at induction of anaesth, w/ up to 3 doses of 1,000 mg/200 mg in 24 hr.Β Childn (wt <40 kg): Childn β₯3 mth of ageΒ 25 mg/5 mg/kg every 8 hr.Β Childn <3 mth of age or weighing <4 kgΒ 25 mg/5 mg/kg every 12 hr.
