Colchicine
Indications/Uses
Acute gout. Prophylaxis of recurrent gout. Prevention of acute attacks during initial therapy w/ allopurinol & uricosuric drugs.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mgΒ Acute goutΒ Initially 1 mg then 0.5 mg every 2-3 hr until pain relief or diarrhoea/vomiting occurs or until 6 mg total dose is reached. Not to repeat course of treatment w/in 3 days.Β ProphylaxisΒ 0.5 mg bd or tds.Β 0.6 mgΒ Acute gout & pseudogoutΒ 1-2 tab every 2 hr until pain relief or nausea/vomiting/diarrhea occurs.Β Acute gout prophylaxisΒ 1 tab daily 1-4 times wklyto 1 tab daily.Β Pseudogout prophylaxisΒ Up to 2 tab daily.
