Prednisolone
Indications/Uses
Bronchial asthma, allergic disease, RA, juvenile RA, rheumatoid myocarditis, rheumatic myelitis, psoriasis, osteoarthritis, gouty arthritis, acute & chronic gout, inflammatory skin disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
RAΒ Initially 5 mg daily, may be increased by 1 mg at few wk intervals up to max: 10 mg daily.Β Rheumatic carditisΒ 1 mg/kg daily for 7-10 days, thereafter reduced by 2.5 mg daily every 5-7 days.Β Asthma & other resp diseasesΒ 5-10 mg orally daily.Β Other casesΒ Initially in 2-4 divided doses, may be decreased by Β½-1 tab every 2-3 days for maintenance after improvement is seen.Β ChildnΒ 0.5-2 mg/kg daily in 3-4 divided doses.
